Academy Awards winners, 2010

It’s my usual post about Oscar winners! Here are my thoughts on the 82nd Academy Awards winners (highlighted in red).

Okay, well-done to the cast and crew of The Hurt Locker! It’s deserved. It’s funny how at some point everyone thought Avatar was going to win, especially after the Golden Globes, and then the usual backlash came around; so Kathryn Bigelow’s film made its way to victory. It’s a good film, make no mistake, but I didn’t make much of it when I saw it. The characters were certainly very interesting, and the story quite dramatic indeed -it’s a brave film for sure. I wouldn’t have been upset to see Avatar getting the big gong, unlike a lot of people; and I liked District 9 far more than The Hurt Locker. Same for Up which was to me the most incredible story. But I guess when you’re dealing with war and the Iraq one, then you’re in your league of your own. So, well-done indeed.
